Check-in is from 1:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
Arriving early?
No worries! Drop your bags at reception and head up to our rooftop while we get your room ready. Grab a seat, enjoy the sea breeze and ease into island life.
Leaving later in the day? Ask us about luggage storage so you can make the most of your time in Colombo.
Can I check in during the night?
Absolutely! We offer 24-hour check-in, so late-night flights and early-morning arrivals are no problem.
Just make sure you have a confirmed reservation, ring the bell at the gate when you arrive, and our team will help you get checked in. No need to worry about arriving at an unusual hour!

Is Colombo Beach Hostel safe and secure?

We’ve been welcoming travellers since 2013, and our friendly team is always here to help. Our communal areas are monitored by CCTV, lockers are available in every dorm, and the hostel’s accommodation areas are reserved for registered guests.
Travelling solo?
We also offer female-only dorms for guests who prefer a women-only sleeping space.
As with any hostel, we recommend keeping your valuables locked away and letting our team know if anything makes you uncomfortable. We’re here to listen and help.
Is CBH a good place for solo travellers?
Absolutely! Travelling solo doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone.
Whether you’re exploring Sri Lanka for the first time or taking a break from the usual routine, CBH makes it easy to meet fellow travellers without feeling you have to socialise all the time.
Choose from private rooms, mixed dorms or female-only dorms. Join our free family dinners, catch a movie night, sing along at karaoke or simply hang out on the rooftop.
You might arrive on your own, but you won't have to spend every evening on your own — come as strangers, leave as travel buddies!

Yes! Cash is welcome, and we accept Visa, Mastercard and other supported card payments. UPI payments are also available.

✈️ Getting Here From Colombo Airport
What’s the easiest way to get to CBH from the airport?
Our recommendation is to book a car through Uber or PickMe, Sri Lanka’s local ride-hailing app. It’s usually more economical than booking a taxi directly at an airport counter.
A typical fare may be around LKR 4,500, but prices vary with demand, time and traffic.
A few handy tips for a smooth arrival:
* 🚗 Choose a car, not a tuk-tuk. Cars can use the expressway; tuk-tuks cannot.
* 📱 Check the vehicle’s registration number, make and other details against the app before getting in.
* 💰 Show the driver the quoted fare and confirm the price before starting your journey.
* 🛣️ There’s an expressway toll of approximately LKR 400, which may be added to your fare or collected separately. Check with your driver.
Prefer an airport-arranged pickup?
You can visit Counter 2 — Ayubowan Tours in the airport arrivals lobby and ask for a transfer to Colombo Beach Hostel.
The indicative price is around LKR 8,000, including the expressway toll. Please confirm the final price and what’s included before booking.

🌅 A Few Handy Tips Before You Explore Sri Lanka
First time in Sri Lanka?
Here are a few things we’d recommend sorting out before heading off on your adventure.
1. Sort out your travel authorisation?
Check the latest entry requirements and apply through the official Sri Lanka immigration website: https://www.eta.gov.lk
2. Get a local SIM card?
Dialog and Airtel are options to look into at the airport. Having local data makes it much easier to book rides, navigate and stay connected.
3. Exchange some money?
You can exchange foreign currency at the airport. It’s handy to have some Sri Lankan rupees for small purchases and places that don’t accept cards.
4. Planning to drive a tuk-tuk?
If you’re planning to drive in Sri Lanka, check the current requirements for your licence and the relevant local endorsement before getting behind the wheel. An international driving permit alone may not be sufficient for every vehicle category.
5. Hiring a motorbike or car?
Check the local requirements for having your home-country driving licence recognised or endorsed by the relevant Sri Lankan authority. If you’re unsure, ask us before you rent — we’ll help point you in the right direction.
